After the diagnosis

If your doctor diagnoses you with hypogonadism, sometimes known as Low Testosterone, due to certain medical conditions, you and your doctor can work together to determine if treatment is right for you. AndroGel 1.62% is one treatment option.

AndroGel 1.62% is used to treat adult males who have low or no testosterone due to certain medical conditions. It should not be used in adult men who have low testosterone as a result of aging alone.

The recommended starting dose of AndroGel 1.62% is 40.5 mg. AndroGel 1.62% is available in a pump and packets. If treatment is appropriate for you, and if you are prescribed AndroGel 1.62%, work with your doctor to determine which option is best for you.

AndroGel 1.62% can transfer from your body to others. This can happen if other people come into contact with the area where the AndroGel 1.62% was applied. Signs of puberty that are not expected have happened in young children who were accidentally exposed to testosterone through skin-to-skin contact with men using topical testosterone products like AndroGel 1.62%. Women and children should avoid contact with the unwashed or unclothed area where AndroGel 1.62% has been applied. Patients must strictly follow the recommended instructions for use.

The importance of follow-ups
After you and your doctor have figured out your treatment plan, it's important to schedule follow-ups to monitor your results. It's recommended to return 14 and 28 days after starting your treatment. You can also expect follow-up visits three to six months later. Then it can become part of your regular annual check-up appointments. Your doctor may adjust your dose based on your body's response to therapy, so it's important to schedule follow-up appointments.
